Roman Chamomile EO

The Story:

Roman Chamomile is a small perennial herb, usually between 10 and 50 cm long. It has several branched stems in their upper parts that end in very fragrant floral capitulas. It originates from the Atlantic regions of Europe, such as France, Spain, the United Kingdom and North Africa. She is therefore not from Italy, contrary to what her pseudonym might suggest.

The term “chamomile” is suitable for several plants with a similar appearance, including Roman Chamomile and Great Chamomile. However, Roman chamomile is often used for its aromatic power, in culinary use, in herbal teas and in cosmetics.

The term Chamomile comes from the Greek chamaemelon, literally “apple of the ground”, its scent can recall the smell of fruit.

It is very present in the Greek and Roman pharmacopoeias, but also in Germaine. Its medicinal virtues have been tested by many civilizations since ancient times.

Uses :

In infusion: For its soothing and relaxing properties.

To do this, mix 3 to 4 drops in a litre of warm, non-boiling water. Indeed, water that is too hot tends to evaporate the essential oil too quickly and could also degrade the essential oil and its components, making it less effective. It is important to dilute the essential oil in honey or on a sugar cube which you will then add in warm water, in order to unify the mixture. Once your preparation is done, you can enjoy your tea for a moment of relaxation, at any time of the day.

Atmospheric diffusion: To clean and purify the atmosphere of your home, but also to create a soothing and relaxing atmosphere.

Depending on the diffusers and the size of the room, pour between 5 and 30 drops, and allow 30 minutes for a large room and about 15 minutes for a bedroom. In all cases, comply with the instructions for the device used.

In cosmetics: In particular, it calms, soothes, balances and repairs the skin.

Roman Chamomile essential oil is used very diluted in a rich vegetable oil to provide a soothing and relaxing massage. Pour 4 drops of essential oil for 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil of your choice and massage gently into the area concerned. For a relaxing effect, prefer a massage on the solar plexus.

To soothe irritated and tired eyes: use only chamomile hydrosol or floral water (never essential oil in the eyes of any kind). Against anxiety and stress: 10 drops of Chamomile essential oil + 20 drops of Mandarin in 50 ml of sweet Almond or Macadamia vegetable oil, in a gentle massage on the solar plexus and possibly in the evening or morning, from the arch of the foot and inside the wrists.

Caution: Chamomile essential oils are very powerful and irritating when used pure on the skin, it should always be diluted in a 1% vegetable oil for the face and 2% for the body.
